Yellow Gem is a tall kangaroo paw cultivar flowering from spring through summer, featuring bright yellow fuzzy flowers held in striking contrast on red stems. The strong, upright stems attract nectar-feeding birds such as honeyeaters, along with butterflies and bees, adding lively movement and biodiversity to the garden. The distinctive kangaroo paw–shaped blooms make excellent cut flowers, while the green, strappy foliage provides attractive structure. Bred for superior garden performance, Yellow Gem offers extended flowering and improved disease resistance. Drought tolerant once established and thriving in well-drained soils, it is ideal for mass plantings, borders, and large containers.
Anigozanthos species naturally occur in sandy heathlands and open woodlands of Western Australia, thriving in well-drained acidic soils with Mediterranean climate conditions and excellent drainage.
