Dwarf Ashby’s Banksia is a spectacular compact native shrub renowned for its vibrant orange flower spikes and manageable size that makes beautiful banksias accessible for smaller gardens. This attractive dwarf form produces cylindrical flower spikes up to 15cm long in brilliant orange tones that attract honeyeaters and other nectar-feeding birds while maintaining a neat, compact growth habit. The narrow, serrated leaves provide attractive evergreen foliage with distinctive silvery undersides that create beautiful contrast. Extremely hardy and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in well-drained sandy soils and full sun positions with minimal water requirements. Perfect for small gardens, containers, and areas where spectacular banksia flowering is desired without the space requirements of larger species.
Banksia ashbyi naturally occurs in Western Australia, with this dwarf form thriving in well-drained sandy soils with excellent drainage and full sun exposure in Mediterranean-type climates with outstanding drought tolerance.
