Dense-leaved Banksia is a robust native shrub renowned for its golden-yellow flower spikes and exceptionally dense foliage that creates excellent screening and wildlife habitat. This hardy species produces cylindrical flower spikes up to 12cm long in bright golden tones that attract honeyeaters, lorikeets, and other nectar-feeding birds while the dense branching provides excellent privacy screening. The narrow, crowded leaves create attractive fine-textured evergreen foliage that remains thick and compact year-round. Extremely hardy and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in well-drained soils and full sun positions. Perfect for screening hedges, windbreaks, and areas where dense growth combined with spectacular flowering creates functional garden solutions.
Banksia foliosissima naturally occurs in southwestern Western Australia, thriving in sandy, well-drained soils with excellent drainage and full sun exposure in Mediterranean-type climates.
