Description

Slender, erect to spreading shrub with wiry branches and small, narrow, prickly leaves with strongly recurved margins. Produces small white to pale pink tubular flowers, often with pink buds, in short axillary spikes from late winter to spring. Flowers have conspicuously bearded corolla lobes and are followed by small ridged drupes. Suited to full sun or part shade and well-drained sandy or gravelly soils; requires good drainage and is not suited to prolonged waterlogging.

Habitat

Occurs in south-eastern Australia from Queensland and New South Wales through Victoria to Tasmania, commonly in heathland and heathy woodland on sandy or rocky soils, with occasional occurrences in damp forest on loamy soils.
