Description
Upright, rounded shrub with slender branches and narrow, grey-green, aromatic leaves arranged in opposite pairs. Produces lateral spikes of bright red to scarlet flowers, with pink, apricot or purple forms also occurring, mainly from late winter through spring and sometimes continuing into summer. Woody capsules persist along the older stems. Responds well to light pruning after flowering to maintain a compact habit and encourage flowering. Suited to full sun and well-drained soils, with reliable moisture supporting growth; avoid waterlogged conditions.
