Description
Correa decumbens is a low, spreading shrub endemic to South Australia, particularly the Mount Lofty Ranges. It typically grows to 30–60cm high and can spread up to 1.5 metres wide, forming a neat, ground-hugging habit. In late winter through spring, it produces slender, upright tubular flowers in shades of red tipped with green, which attract nectar-feeding birds. Tolerant of part to full shade and moderately drought hardy once established, it prefers well-drained soils and suits both coastal and inland gardens. Ideal for understorey planting, native borders, or habitat gardens where subtle colour and wildlife interest are desired.
