Dampiera trigona is a compact, spreading plant with fine green foliage and striking flowers that are typically blue to purple, and sometimes pink in cultivated forms. It produces flowers from spring to summer. Its neat habit and colourful flowers make it a good choice for containers, rockeries, or spilling over edges in garden beds or hanging baskets.
This plant occurs in south‑western Western Australia, where it is found on flats and roadsides in well‑drained sandy and clayey soils, often in winter‑wet areas. In gardens, Dampiera trigona prefers a sunny to part‑shaded position with well‑drained soil. It is tolerant of light frost and drought once established, and will perform well with occasional watering during dry spells. Its spreading habit makes it ideal for informal plantings, low‑water gardens, containers, and areas where a colourful, low‑growing plant is desired.
