Epacris longiflora ‘Fuchsia Heath’ is an open, spreading shrub native to coastal and near-coastal regions of New South Wales and southern Queensland. It typically grows 0.5 to 1 metre high and wide, with slender, arching stems and fine foliage. Striking red tubular flowers tipped with white appear throughout much of the year, especially in cooler months, attracting honeyeaters and other small birds. Several cultivars are available, including compact or squat forms, and those with pink, salmon, or pure white flowers. Prefers well-drained, acidic soils and thrives in full sun to part shade with protection from drying winds. Ideal for native cottage gardens, container displays, or adding year-round colour to mixed borders. Regular pruning encourages dense, tidy growth.
Epacris longiflora naturally occurs in heathlands and open forests across southeastern Australia, thriving in well-drained acidic soils with sandy composition.
