Hypocalymma angustifolium is native to the south-west of Western Australia, where it grows in heathlands, open woodlands and shrublands on sandy or gravelly soils. Adaptable to a range of well-drained soils, it tolerates clay and occasional waterlogging. It grows in full sun but also performs well in part shade or dappled light.
