Leionema lamprophyllum ssp. obovatum is a compact, upright shrub with glossy dark green foliage and dense clusters of creamy-white, star-shaped flowers from late winter to spring. Adaptable to a wide range of soil types, it grows well in full sun or part shade and is particularly suited to lightly shaded positions. Frost tolerant and drought hardy once established

Habitat

Leionema lamprophyllum ssp. obovatum occurs naturally in open forests and woodland margins of eastern Australia, often growing on rocky slopes and well-drained soils. In cultivation, it prefers a well-drained position in full sun to part shade and benefits from occasional watering during extended dry periods while establishing. This subspecies is considered to be at risk of extinction in the wild, making its cultivation an important contribution to the conservation of Australia’s native flora.
