Leionema lamprophyllum is a dense, rounded shrub growing to around 2 m high and wide. It has small, glossy dark green leaves and produces masses of delicate, star-shaped white flowers with pink-tinged buds from winter through spring. Its neat habit makes it ideal for screening, informal hedging and mixed plantings.
Leionema lamprophyllum occurs in heath and shrubland across parts of New South Wales, the ACT and eastern Victoria, often on sandstone ridges and other well-drained sites. It prefers free-draining soils in full sun to dappled shade and is particularly well suited to growing in dry shady locations beneath an open tree canopy. Once established it is drought tolerant, requires little maintenance and responds well to pruning.
