Banksia ericifolia ‘Dwarf Forms’ are compact shrubs valued for their fine, needle-like foliage and vibrant orange to red flower spikes. These low-growing selections typically reach around 1–2 m high and wide, making them well suited to smaller gardens and containers. Flowering from autumn through winter to spring, they are highly attractive to birds and pollinators and respond well to light pruning after flowering to maintain a neat, bushy habit.
Banksia ericifolia occurs naturally in coastal heath and open woodland on sandy soils along the central coast of New South Wales. It thrives in free-draining, nutrient-poor soils, often in exposed coastal conditions, and is well adapted to full sun and low to moderate rainfall. It can also tolerate well-drained clay soils, making dwarf forms suitable for both coastal gardens and inland sites with good drainage.
