Diplarrena latifolia is a clumping, grass-like perennial with arching, strap-shaped leaves that form a neat, upright tussock. Flowering occurs in spring to early summer, producing elegant, iris-like flowers that are predominantly white with subtle purple markings, held above the foliage on slender stems. Its graceful form and delicate flowers make it ideal for feature planting, massed borders, or containers.
Diplarrena latifolia occurs naturally in Tasmania, where it is often found in wet heathlands, subalpine rushlands and open grassy areas on sandy or moist, well‑drained soils from lowland to higher elevations. These Tasmanian habitats experience cool, wet winters and mild to cool summers. In cultivation it prefers well‑drained soils in a sunny to lightly sheltered position with consistent moisture around establishment. Once established it is tolerant of dry periods; avoid waterlogging for best results, and occasional removal of old foliage helps maintain a tidy, attractive clump.
