A striking large shrub or small tree renowned for its unusual rounded flower heads, made up of cream styles with contrasting crimson pink centres, often described as resembling pincushions. Flowering from autumn through winter, it provides an excellent source of nectar for birds and pollinators. The blue green gumleaf-like leaves and naturally graceful habit make it an outstanding feature plant for low water-use gardens.
Hakea laurina naturally occurs in coastal areas and sandy and sandy clay soils in the south-west of Western Australia, thriving in well-drained positions with salt tolerance and Mediterranean climate conditions.
