Botanical Name

Banksia serrata ‘Pygmy Possum’

Common Name

Pygmy Possum Banksia

Description

Pygmy Possum is a charming compact banksia cultivar renowned for its cream-colored flower spikes and manageable size that makes spectacular banksias accessible for smaller gardens. This delightful dwarf form produces cylindrical flower spikes up to 10cm long in soft cream tones that attract honeyeaters and other nectar-feeding birds while maintaining a neat, compact growth habit. The serrated leaves provide attractive evergreen foliage typical of the Old Man Banksia lineage but in a much smaller package. Extremely hardy and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in well-drained soils and full sun positions. Perfect for small gardens, containers, and areas where the beauty of native banksias is desired without the space requirements of larger species.
