Glischrocaryon flavescens is a tufted perennial herb with narrow, grass-like leaves arising from the base. In spring to summer, it produces striking, upright stems topped with bright yellow, globular flower clusters, creating a distinctive and long-lasting display above the foliage. The flowering heads are held well above the plant, giving a light, architectural appearance.
Native to South Australia and south Western Australia, Glischrocaryon flavescens grows in a range of open habitats including sandy or loamy soils in woodlands, grasslands, and seasonally wet areas. It prefers well-drained to periodically moist soils in full sun, and is adapted to environments with seasonal rainfall and dry periods.
