A beautiful and rarely cultivated Boronia species, Boronia coerulescens is valued for its unusual bluish to mauve four-petalled flowers. Blooming in spring and early summer, the delicate flowers contrast attractively with the fine green foliage. Prefers well-drained sandy or loamy soils and benefits from protection from extreme heat and strong winds. Best grown in a sunny to lightly shaded spot with good air circulation. An excellent addition to native gardens and collectors’ landscapes. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain shape and vigour.
Cyanothamnus coerulescens naturally occurs in Western Australia, thriving in well-drained sandy or loamy soils with excellent drainage and full sun to light shade exposure in Mediterranean climates with protection from extreme heat and strong winds.
