In the wild, Epacris impressa occurs across south-eastern Australia in heathland, woodland and open forest, often on sandy or gravelly soils with excellent drainage. It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soils in part sun to dappled shade and benefits from consistent moisture during establishment. Moderate frost is tolerated once established, and light to heavy pruning after flowering helps maintain a compact shape. Avoid heavy, poorly drained soils and excessive fertiliser to ensure healthy growth.
