A small, graceful snow gum with an elegant weeping habit, Eucalyptus lacrimans is prized for its pendulous branches and fine, narrow green foliage. Smooth bark in shades of grey to white enhances its ornamental appeal, while clusters of white flowers appear from September to January, attracting birds and pollinators.
Compact and cold-hardy, it makes an excellent feature tree for smaller gardens or cool-climate landscapes, adding softness and movement to any landscape.
Eucalyptus lacrimans naturally occurs in high-altitude areas of the Australian Alps in south-eastern New South Wales, where it grows in subalpine woodland environments.
It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, and is adaptable to sand, loam and clay. Highly tolerant of frost, snow and prolonged cold conditions, it is well suited to cool temperate and alpine gardens.
