A slender upright tree with fine segmented branchlets giving a soft pendulous appearance similar to a she-oak. An unusual and attractive species suited to screening, windbreaks and feature planting in larger gardens. The fine textured foliage provides movement and contrast in the landscape while the dense growth habit offers useful habitat for small birds.
A rare species restricted to the Daintree rainforest region of far north Queensland, where it occurs along rainforest margins and waterways in moist well-drained soils. Best suited to protected positions with reliable moisture and performs well in warm temperate to subtropical climates. Tolerates periodic wet conditions but benefits from good drainage and shelter from prolonged frost.
