Description
Spyridium coactilifolium ‘Butterfly Spyridium’ is a compact shrub native to the southern Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia. Growing 1–1.5 metres tall, it features dense, soft grey-green foliage with a felted underside. In warmer months, it produces clusters of silvery-white bracts that resemble butterflies resting on the branch tips—an eye-catching feature that gives the plant its name. It thrives in well-drained soils, in full sun or part shade, and is both drought-tolerant and low-maintenance once established. A light prune after flowering keeps it neat and encourages new growth. Ideal for habitat gardens, it provides cover for small wildlife and attracts insects, adding structure and texture to native or coastal plantings.
